Entertainment & Activities
Dedicated kids’ clubs group kids by age with age appropriate activities. All kids who cruise on Carnival get a wrist band (ankle band for babies) for their safety, particularly if they’re enjoying Carnival Cruise kid activities when an emergency happens. The staff explains all of that to parents in the kids’ clubs on embarkation day. The ship has the basic activities, expected on most cruise ships in the Caribbean. Carnival Elation’s Camp Ocean has a marine-inspired decor and program names designed for kids ages 2 through 11.

Kids can dine on green eggs and ham alongside notable Seuss characters, participate in a Seuss parade and join in on other fun activities. The 2017 dry dock even added a new deck to the ship, with suites and a few scenic staterooms. Since I began sailing with Carnival, I've been to Half Moon Cay twice. The first was on a sailing onboard Carnival Conquest, and the second was on my 5-night Carnival Elation cruise.

Starting with the interior staterooms, all offer a pretty decent amount of space for an interior room, and they don’t feel boxy or closed in. Porthole interior rooms, with their ample lighting, corner set televisions and desk space, seem particularly roomy. The interior upper and lower staterooms are a good pick for individual, solo travelers, as they offer a single bed, but plenty of floor space. I did notice that crew members were trying to reduce the number of chair hogs by keeping an eye on which chairs were actively being used; however, they were only able to help so much. Additional seating would have been beneficial, as there were definitely some spaces that could have fit a few more lounge chairs.
These staterooms feature all the same amenities as other Interior staterooms, with a different layout - including one Twin bed, and either an upper Pullman or sofa bed. They also feature linens from the Carnival Comfort Collection, a full private bathroom and more. On the same ship with the waterslides and conga lines is actually a photographic oasis. At the back of Carnival Elation on Deck 9 (Promenade), the adults-only Serenity Deck remained full on sea days. The space includes lounge chairs out in the sun, and chairs and love seats in the shade under a roof. There are a few umbrellas in the front row of loungers, but not many.

A resort-style pool further down the ship is a little calmer and less of an activity hub. The Grand Suite Extended Balcony option is similar, but with more space outside than in, though the interior does still feature a cozy couch in a modern style. In the 2010s, it offered Western Caribbean itineraries from both Alabama and New Orleans, before moving on to Florida and cruises to the Bahamas.

Elation was retrofitted with part of Carnival's "Evolutions of Fun" upgrades. The Serenity adults-only area was installed, but not the WaterWorks park. Carnival Elation also had 28 balconies installed, all on Deck 6.

By default, if you make no selections on the card, your room service steward will service the accommodation twice daily. The complimentary service is available via the Infotainment system (in all cabins) and also at the FunHub stations around the ship. The Carnival Elation is the smallest ship in the Carnival fleet.
